a book for who wants to know more about our world now

Why families are often destroyed submitted to extravagant whims of a heir, even when he or she is visibly unbalanced? Why, all over the world, so many politicians are deeply immersed in corruption? Why do we distrust the agro-food industry? Why so often do businessmen join politicians, intensifying the wave of corruption? Why pharma and chemical industries are so often considered as groups of criminals? Why entire countries are often devastated by criminal financial systems?
We all observe a gradual planetary impoverishment, a growing social asymmetry, the gradual emergence of a tyrannical planetary bureaucratic government directed - albeit invisibly - by large corporations and very effectively disguised as propaganda, in which, whatever their trend, politicians, popular singers, high society stars, commercial book writers and so on participate. We see the end of democracy, countless frauds - like GDP or inflation, for example - without any reaction or frank denunciation.
Politicians or people connected to their world only speak, albeit sometimes in different ways, of one single thing: power.
No politician speaks - or seriously acts in a continuous and consistent way - about education, culture, art, music, poetry, literature or philosophy. Things that are taken as "silly" - but that are the basis of science! Science in itself tends to disappear, giving way to "applied sciences", with the aim of "making money" - even if the latter does not exist without the former!
Poverty is explained through the easy and synthetic thesis of the robbery perpetrated by an elite against poor. But, this same explanation has been historically the justification of the most odious dictatorships and totalitarian regimes, where small elites explore to the exhaustion a people kidnapped and under permanent menace. What is behind that?
Economy is implicitness - and it requires a special nature of mind organization to exist.
Over the last thirty years at least I have studied the planetary metamorphosis and the transformation of thought. In 1992, I started a project to this end. Now, twenty-five years later and two books published, I'm launching a third book - the last one of this project - which presents an interesting discovery: not only our biological and behavioral link to insects as well as the key, in neurological terms, of what we commonly historically call "civilization", "Western civilization".
Such discovery clearly shows that the intensification of the specific use of a certain area of the brain changes what we are in individual and collective terms. But, not only, it also shows how such happened in historical terms, how it designed what we are now and how it continues designing us.
Two essential points: what we know plastically changes our brains, and what we know is our way of knowing, following Kant's ideas.
Projecting a conclusion: everything we are is based on an aesthetic issue. From the Greek aisthetikos, which means sensory perception and cognition. This phenomenon - which physiologically designs our brains - is at the basis even of the organization of the forces of production, and of those who had thought about them or about that question. Or in wars and refugee flows, so often manipulated by governments and groups of human traffickers.
The Grasshopper Man is no justification for any kind of criminal act, in the past or at present, whether political or otherwise. Never! By contrary! It illuminates the question. Only by knowing we can counteract those tragic events.
We are gaily walking in direction to a Sixth Extinction. We pollute everything we pass through, we destroy our last forests, we devastate ancient biological cultures, we condemn to extinction a gigantic number of living beings every month - forgetting that we are part of all that, and worse, without the awareness that we are committing a collective suicide. All this is in The Grasshopper Man.
Perhaps the most relevant discovery of The Grasshopper Man is that we deal with culture - which redesigns us physiologically - rather than with racism, power or even Natural Selection strictu sensu.
That means the future is in our hands.
Read the book and, please, spread out!
