VOO UIRA PROJECT is a pioneering technological approach in the field of Architecture and Urbanism in the aerospace sector, with the creation of an Olympic Orbital Village (VOO) that would allow sports experiences in lack of gravitational force on a scale impossible to simulate on Earth. Scheduled to host thousands of athletes, such like in Olympic Games, it will permit to test physical and psychological resistances of athletes in space, with the improvement of their techniques in slow motion and the monitoring by coaches and physical educators, as well as scientists, aiming the long permanence of humans in space.
It is, therefore, about the possibility of the development of advanced studies on materials and vanguard technology applied to the welfare of humankind by the technical and scientific community of USP University of São Paulo. Through a case of exceptional boldness to enable the safe permanence of users at the orbital village, it will allow new applications of advanced technology materials for other uses on Earth, in benefit of its population, like in the areas of social and emergency housing.
Created by the architect, urbanist and transmedia artist Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta, VOO UIRA will have its preliminary study carried out by a transdisciplinary team focused on aerospace research in NUTAU / USP - Nucleus for Research on Technology of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo.
It is with great enthusiasm that this team NUTAU / USP embraces VOO UIRA, which should allow the Nucleus to achieve a new level of scientific and technological research in the fields of Architecture and Urbanism.
