some projects 1980-2008
In 2005, the artist and philosopher António
Cerveira Pinto, invited Emanuel Pimenta to elaborate an architecture
project to be integrated in his urban Great Estuary Project,
which was oriented to be a possible candidature for Lisbon to
the Olympic Games in 2020. Emanuel Pimenta created a floating
island that is revolutionary in terms of architectural concept.
The building was planned as to be permanently rebuilt by teams
formed by young architects, engineers, social scientists, biologists
and so on. The structure could be enlarged or reduced. It could
also be divided in many parts or be quickly moved around the
huge estuary of the Tagus river. It was predicted to be also
a permanent lab for the ecological system of the river. It is
a project for a permanent program, design and technology renew.
