Venice - Between 28 May and November 27, 2016, during seven months, Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta (58), architect and urbanist born in São Paulo, Brazil, a pioneer in the use of computers and artificial intelligence in architecture, will be present at the Venice Biennale with the exhibition "The Infinite of Architecture", with some of his works created since the year 1980, covering more than thirty-five years of activity. With several projects, exhibitions, and more than seventy books published in several countries, Emanuel Pimenta works with neurosciences, space-time cognition, theory of thought, artificial intelligence and cyberspace applied to architecture and urban planning. In 1980, he coined the concept of "virtual architecture"; in that same year, he started the first virtual planet in history, anticipating projects such as "Second Life" in more than twenty years; from the year 2000 he started working also on space architecture: buildings designed to be placed in the outer space, out of planet Earth; in 2012, he created the first design for an orbital Olympic Village, which has been developed in association with the nanotechnology, and communication and society studies departments at the University of Minho, in Portugal, and other international entities, like the Streaming Museum in New York City among others. Since de 1990s, Emanuel Pimenta has participated in several editions of the celebrated Biennale of Venice, specially in projects curated by Lucrezia De Domizio, Baroness Durini. Emanuel Pimenta is member of the Space Architecture Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics; of the New York Academy of Sciences; of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; of the Order of Architects of Portugal and of the Brazilian Council of Architecture and Urban Planning. The exhibition "The Infinite of Architecture" will be held in the famous Palazzo Mora in Venice, and is part of a larger exhibition, titled "Time-Space-Existence", created and directed by GAA Global Art Affairs - a Dutch foundation that aims to heighten the awareness about the more philosophical themes in contemporary art, architecture and in culture in general. The larger exhibition "Time-Space-Existence" will show the works of some of the most important architects around the world. The exhibition is officially part of the Venice Biennale and is predicted that it will receive more than two hundred thousand visitors in 2016. The exhibition is organized by Valeria Romagnini, Sara Danieli, Lucia Pedrana, Elena Volpato, Eve Pletti, Clara Frison, Alexis Benazzato, Sarah Gold and Rene Rietmeyer. Emanuel Pimenta has lived, since many years, in Locarno, Switzerland - but he is regularly present in New York, Lisbon and São Paulo.

Emanuel Pimenta na Bienal de Veneza

Entre 28 de Maio e 27 de Novembro de 2016, durante sete meses,
Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta (58), arquiteto e urbanista nascido
em São Paulo, Brasil, um dos pioneiros no uso de computadores
e inteligência artificial na arquitetura, estará
presente na Bienal de Veneza com a mostra "O Infinito da
Arquitetura", onde apresenta alguns dos seus trabalhos realizados
desde o ano de 1980, cobrindo mais de trinta e cinco anos de contínua
atividade. Com diversos projetos, exposições, e
mais de setenta livros publicados em diversos países, Emanuel
Pimenta trabalha com neurociências, cognição
do espaço-tempo, Teoria do Pensamento, inteligência
artificial e ciberspaço aplicados à arquitetura
e ao urbanismo. Em 1980, cunhou o conceito da "arquitetura
virtual"; naquele mesmo ano, deu início ao primeiro
planeta virtual da história, antecipando projetos como
o "Second Life" em mais de vinte anos; a partir do ano
2000 passou trabalhar com arquitetura espacial: edifícios
projetados para fora do planeta Terra; em 2012 apresentou o primeiro
projeto para uma Vila Olímpica Orbital, que tem sido desenvolvido
em associação com os departamentos de nanotecnologia
e de estudos em comunicação e sociedade da Universidade
do Minho, em Portugal, entre outras entidades internacionais como
o Streaming Museum em Nova Iorque entre outros. Desde os anos
1990, Emanuel Pimenta tem participado em diversas edições
da Bienal de Veneza, especialmente em projetos curados por Lucrezia
De Domizio, Baronesa Durini. Emanuel Pimenta é membro do
Space Architecture Committee do American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics; da Academia de Ciências de Nova Iorque;
da Sociedade Americana para o Progresso da Ciência; da Ordem
dos Arquitetos de Portugal e do Conselho De Arquitetura e Urbanismo
do Brasil. A exposição "O Infinito da Arquitetura"
será realizada no célebre Palazzo Mora, em Veneza,
e faz parte de uma exposição maior, chamada "Tempo-Espaço-Existência",
criada e dirigida pela GAA Global Art Affairs - fundação
Holandesa criada com o objetivo de ampliar a consciência
sobre temas mais filosóficos na arte contemporânea,
na arquitetura e na cultura em geral. A grande exposição
"Tempo-Espaço-Existência" reunirá
alguns dos mais importantes arquitetos de todo o mundo. A exposição
é parte oficial da Bienal de Veneza e conta receber mais
de duzentos mil visitantes ao longo de 2016. A exposição
é organizada por Valeria Romagnini, Sara Danieli, Lucia
Pedrana, Elena Volpato, Eve Pletti, Clara Frison, Alexis Benazzato,
Sarah Gold and Rene Rietmeyer.
