About CANTO 6409 (short narrative, 22 minutes, Italy, 2009)
CANTO 6409 was created as a response to the terrible seismic disaster that hit Abruzzo, Italy, on April 6th. This film portrays the most intimate and deepest sense that this tragedy has brought to its people. It is a collaborative project by the Italian film director Dino Viani and the contemporary music composer Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta, based on Antonin Artaud's principle of independence and chance that have been adopted since the 1950s by masters such as John Cage and Merce Cunningham. These universal principals and international collaboration come together to honor the earthquake victims of Abruzzo, Italy.
